Basic Process Methods for Aluminum Foil Lamination
Abstract:
This article analyzes common issues in the solvent-free aluminum foil composite process, such as composite white spots, glue penetration and reverse adhesion (back-penetration), winding slippage, and soft wrinkles. Corresponding solutions are provided.
Basic Process Methods for Aluminum Foil Lamination
LD Pack began experimenting with solvent-free aluminum foil lamination at an early stage, striving to gain successful experience. Based on years of research and trials, aluminum foil lamination can now be carried out in batch production, though the reliability for large-scale promotion still needs improvement.
Many users find aluminum foil lamination difficult to master. The primary causes of these challenges are: aluminum foil is a rigid substrate with very thin thickness, and the initial tack of adhesives is relatively low, making it hard to achieve good initial bonding.
Aluminum foil lamination typically involves three-layer or four-layer structures. We recommend two methods to users: the step-by-step method and the one-step method.
Step-by-Step Method
The step-by-step method involves laminating two layers at a time. A three-layer structure is completed in two stages, while a four-layer structure is done in three stages.
Between the lamination stages, either full curing or partial curing can be applied.
We strongly recommend the partial curing method, where the next lamination is performed within 2-4 hours after the initial lamination.
The partial curing method, originally developed by Tongze, offers several advantages:
1. Reduced Back-Penetration Issues: Minimizes adhesive penetration problems.
2. Shortened Production Cycle: Speeds up the overall production process.
3. Improved Efficiency: Enhances productivity and throughput.
One-Step Method
The one-step method involves completing a three-layer or four-layer lamination in a single operation.
However, this approach requires specific equipment as a prerequisite. Due to differences in process methods, the types of issues encountered may vary accordingly.
